GER Submission Policies and Guidelines

Policies
  • Georgia Educational Researcher (GER) is a blind reviewed journal. Each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two members of the Editorial Board.
  • Manuscripts are accepted for consideration with the understanding that they are original material and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Reviews are returned to the GER editor, comments compiled and returned to the author who was listed as the contact person.
  • Author/s then have the option to make the suggested edits, format for final publication, and resubmit to GER.
  • Manuscripts are accepted for review at any time during the year and receipt will be acknowledged by the editor.
  • Manuscripts will be returned to authors within three months of submission.
  • Due dates for final submission will vary with each edition.

Submission Guidelines
  • Manuscripts should follow the guidelines of the 6th edition Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) available through http://www.apastyle.org unless otherwise noted below.
  • Authors should note that APA guidelines include  the requirement of three copies of the manuscript and an abstract; HOWEVER GER does not accept paper copies of manuscripts.
  • Authors are required to submit a digital version of the manuscript  via  email to Dr. Lorraine Schmertzing, lschmert@valdosta.edu in one of two formats:

  • MS word document (.doc extension) or a
  • Rich text file  (.rtf extension)

  • Articles are to have figures, graphs, charts, etc. embedded in  the document placed near the text to which they refer.
  • Appendices should be included in the manuscript document and not as separate attachments.
  • Running heads  are not needed because of the nature of the online format of the journal.
  • Please be sure to do the following:

  • Type  only one space after a period or other punctuation.
  • Begin each paragraph with a tab, not the space bar.
  • In the text, use hard returns only at the end of paragraphs, heads, and subheads.
  • Use italics instead of underlining titles.

  • Despite the instructions in APA, do not use indents in the References. Let the text wrap and do two hard  returns at the end of each entry, thereby creating single spaced references with a blank space between references.
  • Remove any references to the authors work that may allow the reviewer  to determine the authors. References will be included prior to final publication.
  • Submission information that must accompany the  manuscript should be in  the body of the email to which the manuscript is attached and should include the following information:

  • Name, phone number,  and email address  of the preferred author for contact  with journal editors
  • List of all authors and their affiliation
  • Title of the manuscript
  • Key Words
  • An indication of which of the following categories apply

  • Qualitative Research
  • Quantitative Research
